The Magdalen Environmental Trust provides outdoor environmental education to children and adults, and therapeutic / respite opportunities to people with more complex needs, on its own 132 acre organic farm.
We work with schools from across southern England, helping primary school age children in particular to understand sustainability, where their food comes from, (and the importance of making the right choices in food), and helping them better understand the countryside and the natural environment. Many of the people we work with have very limited experience of the countryside, or no experience of it at all.
Many of the clients who come to Magdalen also have disabilities including autism and sensory impairments, or are carers needing respite. We are a leading Care Farm and are growing this provision.
Groups visiting Magdalen can either come for just one day, or they can stay in our 70 bed residential centre for up to a week.
Because we are getting busier, we are expanding the staff team and seeking to appoint a new cook to work alongside our Head of Kitchen. This is a full time post, which will include weekends, mornings and evenings. It is our practice to provide two consecutive days off in each week unless in extraordinary circumstances.
Our kitchen has a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating, and our meals have an enviable reputation.
All applications are to be made through the Indeed website, (the job description and person specification are both to be found there):
We will appoint as soon as we have met the right candidate.
Best of luck, and we look forward to meeting you.
