Benefits Officer

Closing date: Tuesday, 17 December

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Benefits Officer to join the Wincanton Cares team.

Wincanton Cares was founded in 2022 by a small, passionate group of people who want to help those in the area to live their lives as fully as possible.

The service brings together 7 key community hubs within Wincanton – including The Balsam Centre – to provide support for paid and unpaid carers and those experiencing digital poverty, advice on emotional health and wellbeing, and more.

They are now looking for a Benefits Officer to help residents across the BA9 postcode area to claim a range of Government benefits and services with an emphasis on Attendance Allowance, Carers’ Allowance, Blue Badge applications and charitable support.

The successful candidate will be able to empathise with, and understand the needs of, vulnerable people in the community and work in a person-centred way. They will have an understanding of the personal and financial implications of rural isolation, age, illness, disability and end of life care, and be able to interpret the legislation in relation to benefits.

More information, including how you can apply, can be found by visiting The Balsam Centre’s website.
