It’s an exciting time to join our growing, friendly team, as we continue our work to support the amazing volunteers who rallied to the aid of their communities during lockdown. Community organisations are now looking to the future, and Spark Somerset is on hand to offer tailored support, working closely with group leaders and volunteers.
We’re looking for enthusiastic self-starters who share our passion for promoting active and resilient communities. Funded by the National lottery Community Fund, the postholders will work within priority areas to establish local volunteer networks, taking responsibility for some projects and having a support role in others. The priority areas identified are Chard, Taunton and Bridgwater and although we are currently working remotely, it is hoped there will be some work based in the localities at a later date.
You will have at least six months experience of volunteering or working in the voluntary sector. You might be a recent graduate in social policy or similar, or perhaps you are looking to change track into a front-line community role. You will have excellent team working, ICT and communication skills, along with a creative, pragmatic and organised approach to your work. In return, you will be offered training and support to further develop your career.
There are three roles available, each for three days per week, for an initial contract of six months from January 2021. Or you could apply for two roles and work full-time. The salary is £21k pro rata. We offer flexibility around when and where you work. Some work will be in the community - for example attending meetings or events anywhere in Somerset - and this might include evenings or weekends.
Please send your completed application form to firstname.lastname@example.org or to the office address below. CVs will not be accepted. The closing date is Monday 7th December 2020. Interviews will be held week commencing 14th December.
If you have any questions in the meantime or would like to have an informal discussion about the post, please call our Voluntary Sector Development Manager, Sharon Hale on 07817 646418.
