SHAL Housing are looking for a Project Worker to support the development of a new Community Hub building in the south ward of Woolavington, as well as a satellite ‘Community Spoke’ space in the neighbouring village of Puriton.
SHAL Housing are a local not-for-profit and registered provider of social housing in the Sedgemoor area. They are also the Local Trusted Organisation for the Villages Together Big Local Partnership, and support them in implementing their Villages Together plan.
They are looking for a Project Worker who will work within the community and alongside the residents of the Villages Together area, Woolavington and Puriton, to help plan, develop, and deliver their ‘Community Hub & Spoke’ pilot project, funded by Big Local Lottery Investment.
The post-holder will help steer the development of this one-year pilot project. Working in the Polden area of Sedgemoor, they will support Villages Together Big Local and the wider local community to realise their vision of an integrated social and community support centre. They will connect with a range of service providers, as well as coordinating a food pantry, and support community events and local groups.
This is a key role for an experienced community leader, who enjoys project and budget management, but also has a deep understanding of community work. A relevant professional qualification in Youth or Community Work would be an advantage, as would extensive relevant experience and an ability to demonstrate an embodiment of SHAL’s ethos and values.
