OpenStoryTellers are recruiting a Lead Creative Facilitator

Are you passionate about social justice and creative expression? Do you have professional or personal experience of learning disabilities? OpenStoryTellers are looking for an extraordinary person for an extraordinary job.

This key role supports people who have a learning disability to find their voice through creative expression and creates platforms to then use that voice.

Some key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Planning and delivery of all aspects of our community arts day services on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Prioritise inclusion and co-creative strategies in a way that balances structure and safety with opportunity and exploration.
  • Share and develop your own artistic skills, balanced with unlocking and learning from the creative skills and process of people with a learning disability

Qualities you will need to bring to the role:

  • Curiosity - a proactive interest in pursuing an idea
  • Support - making sure that we are giving the artist with learning disabilities the tangible support they need to express their voice
  • Spontaneity - the ability to respond creatively to what happens in the moment
  • Communication - recognising the broad field of communication styles and needs and being willing to adapt and learn
  • Organisational thinking - providing structure and a tasks-based format to individual and collaborative goals
  • Pathfinding - navigating a project or process in a way that helps it to emerge
  • Artistic range - recognising and honouring creative expression in its many diverse forms
  • Kindness and respect - holding people in professional esteem with unconditional positive regard

This is a permanent, part time role, working 22.5 hours per week, with an hourly rate of £13.27.
