We're working to reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing in South Somerset
Being part of a thriving community is important for good health and wellbeing. It creates opportunities to connect with others, try new things and share our skills and knowledge. It makes us feel happier, valued and supported.
We’re working with Yarlington Housing Group to deliver the Take Part project in Yarlington schemes across South Somerset. Take Part aims to reduce social isolation and improve health and wellbeing by creating opportunities for residents to connect with each other and access health and wellbeing support in their community.
We’re doing this by engaging with communities, partnering with other organisations to offer a range of interesting and enjoyable activities, and signposting to the Wellbeing South Somerset directory.
Our Take Part groups are a great opportunity for both Yarlington residents and other local people to connect with one another. At the groups, we work with residents to ensure they have access to local support, services and activities, and with their help, identify gaps in provision and co-create solutions.
The groups meet on a bi-weekly basis and enjoy catching up over a coffee, playing games, taking part in art and crafts and regularly eating cake! Guided by the interests of the group members, we’ve also organised visits from external organisations such as the Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Library Service.
Community Groups currently take place on the following times/days/locations. All welcome - drop in anytime!
Take Part Birchfield - Yarlington Community Hub, St. John’s Road, Yeovil from 10:30am to 12:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
