A detailed analysis of the state of the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector in Somerset.
Carried out every few years, this important research provides vital insights into the size and shape of the VCFSE sector in Somerset, it’s impact and the challenges it faces.
Commencing in the summer of 2024, and led by Quay Research, the latest report draws upon extensive data, including an online survey, one-to-one interviews, focus groups and a comprehensive desk-based review.
The findings highlight the pressures faced by the sector; including structural inequalities, health challenges, and the impact of systemic shocks and budget cuts in public service delivery. These challenges underscore the urgent need for financial stability, strategic thinking, and continuity of service delivery from a diverse range of providers.
The report also emphasises the importance of strong relationships between the public and VCFSE sector in building community resilience and maintaining, supporting and developing a successful and sustainable sector.
