1 in 5 of us will have thoughts of suicide in our lifetime – it is a common response to stressful and overwhelming life events.
As such, suicide prevention should be everyone’s business. Anyone in our communities can be alert to when someone is at risk of suicide, and support that person to take the first steps towards getting help.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with Every Life Matters to provide this free, in-person Suicide Alertness Training opportunity for those supporting the wellbeing of others in Somerset.
During this 3-hour session, you will learn:
- The context of suicide
- How to identify when someone may be at risk
- How to ask directly about suicide
- What can be done to support someone and guide them to the help they need
A voluntary plenary session will take place when we finish at 1:30pm for those who would like to stay and discuss the training.
Tickets are freely available to staff and volunteers from VCFSE organisations in Somerset, and will be of particular interest to those who work to support the mental health of others in the county.
