Window Wanderland
29th Jan 2021

A community event to light up the town.

Yeovil Window Wanderland is coming to the Yeovil in February for the first time, bringing a new lease of life and colour to homes and streets. Nearly one hundred households, businesses and organisations have already signed up, promising to light up and put a display in their window during the two week event, which is taking place from 15th to 28th February.

About Window Wanderland

Window Wanderland is a national event, and double the number of locations across the UK and throughout the world have put together their own events during the pandemic because it is a Covid-safe way to bring the community together. Yeovil Art Space is supporting the Yeovil event, working with volunteers, artists, creatives, neighbourhood organisations and local businesses to bring the project together. Project partners include Spark Somerset, Yeovil Town Council, Love Yeovil and Quedam Shopping Centre.

Free window making tool kit

With support from Somerset Community Foundation Coronavirus Response Fund and Abri’s Community Fund, an activity pack with instructions and all the materials that households need to create their window display has been put together by artists, Hannah Bottomley, Stéphanie Max and Natasha Rand. The packs are available during the first week of February for free from the Co-op stores on Mudford Road, St. Michael's Avenue and Stiby Road. They can also be picked up at Take No Wrap, The Cider Shack on Wessex Road, Ninesprings Café and Eastfield Farm, Tintinhull.

How to get involved

Taking part is FREE and everyone is welcome. Join the event as a ‘Windowmaker’ to make a display in your window and leave a light on behind it to illuminate your street in a show of community spirit and connection. The display could be as simple as a candle, a book, or just some fairy-lights

You can also join us as a ‘Wanderer’! Get ready to follow the trail around the town, following the interative map. Find out more, part please visit www.yeovilartspace.uk/windowwanderland/ or search for Yeovil Window Wanderland on Facebook.
